Finding Your Voice

One essential quality of effective World-Changers:
They are extraordinarily open to listening to what is happening
in the world, in others, and in themselves.

Dear Friends,

My daughter Emily turned me onto  5 CALLS -- a website and app that makes sharing your thoughts on what's  important to you to your people in Washington really quick and easy to do.

You simply type in your zip code and the phone numbers of your Senators and Representative come up. Pick one, tap the number and it starts ringing. There's also a quick screen with good information on current issues and even a suggested script to use when you call (but of course you can use your own words).  Sometimes you will get a live voice on the other end, and other times you'll be invited to leave a voice message.

It took me less than five minutes to make those calls.

How often do we hear ourselves and others say, I want to make a difference, I wish I knew what to do. I'm so glad to have this one small thing I can do. My plan is to call every day about one issue. Will you join me?

Oh, and why not make this a spiritual practice? Let me take a moment, close my eyes, BREATHE . . . get centered, visualize a world of peace and justice for all, BREATHE . . . choose to trust in the good intentions of others, and then start that next call.

Peace,
Elizabeth

p.s. Feel free to let me know if you make any calls. I'd love to share with Em how she's made a difference!

Politics ought to be the part-time profession of every citizen who would protect the rights and privileges of free people and who would preserve what is good and fruitful in our national heritage.

CREDITS, etc.

Top Photo by me: Pacific Palisades, CA, in 2021, one of the neighborhoods devastated by the fires this past January. (More than 12,900 households displaced. ~ LA Times)

Top Quote: From a seminar called, Creating Future Scenarios, at the State of the World Forum, September 2000, in New York City.  Incredible, transformational week that I got to attend as a volunteer.

Second Quote:  Heard at another Forum in Washington, DC, in 2002, led by Marianne Williamson. People from around the country were there to learn about the proposed "Department of Peace".  And then, we spent a day on Capitol Hill lobbying for the bill to create that department . . . which hasn't happened ... yet.

Second Photo by me: Chalk mural in Santa Barbara, CA.

MEDITATION online: You can find guided meditations with my voice and others' wonderful background music here on SOUNDCLOUD.
